| So after the much moaned about scanner gave up the ghost last year I've been saving my pennys for a replacement. It has now arrived in the form of a Minolta Scan Dual II. Not a top end model but compared to what I was using before simply heaven. It's also well made and creates an incredible industrial clunk more at home with a coal fired power station than digital box. As such it has been christened Isambard. Anyway the results are much improved as can be seen by this example which also features a few entries ago only with the haze that normally was given to my photos.
The difference is rather striking. As such have some more new stuff.
The first is Neopan 1600 pushed to 2400 and the other two are 400TX pushed to 1600. All were processed in Diafine.
I've also developed something of a fascination with the London Eye.
The first three are the old faithful Neopan 1600 at 2400 in heavy fog whilst the last two are Lucky SHD 100 at 200 in Rodinal.
Expect more regular updates given the lovely new scanner plus a bit more colour as it will now not cost the earth. |

| The scanner is now dead. Very very dead. As such I'll be looking for a replacement in January. One that works hopefully. In the mean time have it's last scan and a colour one from a lab.

| I've had a go with the Diafine and the negatives look great with Neopan pushed to 2400. I've got some more at different EIs and a roll of HP5+ at 1000 which I plan to develop today. Sadly the scanner had a hissy fit, creating these odd halos round the darker areas of negatives resulting in the slight foggy bits on the images and the contrast is a bit off and as ever it's quality is questionable but you get the idea.
I think my next quest should be for a decent film scanner as the cost of doing it at labs for stuff I want done properly is killing me and then you'll get to actually see the photos rather than my moaning.
EDIT: Images are now better scans though still plenty I could moan about given my nature. |

| I've been giving my workhorse film (Fuji Neopan 1600) a bit of a kicking of late by using it at 3200.

Whilst the results are okay I think the D-76 isn't coping as well as it might. As such does anyone have any experience with low contrast/speed increasing brews? I'm thinking about Ilford Microphen, Fotospeed FD30 and if I really want to go nuts Speedibrews 442. I know most of you are digital bods but one can live in hope.
Update: I'm going to go down the two bath route probably as it means I don't have to worry about shooting in different lighting conditions constantly. Sadly the place where I get my developers isn't open weekends so I am going to have to suffer two days of impatience.

| After weeks of search for concertina bottles (is there an international shortage?) I finally gave in and got some photos from the Minolta 9000AF developed at Snappy Snaps.

Also the Smena has been in action but due to some issues I only managed to get a few shots out of it but some of them were nice such as

Excuse the quality had to use my own crappy little scanner for those. Bit of a long shot but no one happens to have got a Diana/Diana +? If so whats it like to use as it seems a touch more attractive than the Holga.
For once more should be on the way soon as long as the concertina bottle crisis ends amicably.
